Peter qualified in 1983 from King’s College Hospital and completed a Cons MSc at the Eastman in 1988. After registrar training jobs at the Eastman, The Royal London, King’s, the Mayday and St. George’s Hospitals he was appointed a Consultant in 1995 at St. George’s and King’s College Hospital.
He worked as a Clinical Director of the Maxillo-Facial & Dental Unit at St. George’s Hospital from 1997 to 2011. He is now a part time Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the new Dental Institute building of Queen Mary’s College University of London (QMUL) & and Bart’s Healthcare Trusts.
He has been involved with the publication of over 50 papers that relate mostly to clinical outcome and innovative techniques and educational delivery. He was heavily involved (with colleagues) with the clinical development of ‘fixed’ Dahl Concept restorations to simplify the management of Tooth Wear and training Dentists with enhanced skills.
In 2014 Peter was appointed by Health Education England (Dental Education & Training) as Associate Dean / Head of School for Dental Speciality training in London.
He has now examined at all levels for the Royal College of Surgeons and King’s College, London. He was appointed as external examiner for the Implant Masters programme at the University of Sheffield in 2013.
He was chair of the Specialist Training Committee (STC) and Training Programme Director (TPD) for Restorative Dentistry (London) until December 2014.
In 2000 he was awarded a certificate in teaching and is heavily involved with post-graduate teaching to: specialist registrars, foundation trainees, dental core trainees, general dental practitioners and dental care professionals.
His clinical interests include: Endodontics, Re-Endodontics, Implantology, Assessment of Tooth Restorability, Diagnosis of Facial Pain, Tooth Wear and the simplifying of the management of complex Restorative problems.
He started specialist practice in Kent in 1996 and in 2000 set up his own referral practice in Farningham, NW Kent. This is managed by his wife Karen, who also qualified from Kings as a dental surgeon in 1983.
For over 18 years he has received instructions from the dental defence agencies, solicitors, claims agencies and other legal teams to provide independent dento-legal opinions and advice.
Away from work he enjoys supporting his three sons with their various passions, walking, driving, skiing and spending time in the West Country and Lake District.
